Holiday Cheer Comes to the Desert

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! That’s right, the Holiday season is about to be in full force and the Coachella Valley has a plethora of festive events planned!

Watch it snow on El Paseo – Each year Big Horn Country Club’s Behind a Miracle (BAM) ushers in the Holidays with their Miracle on El Paseo event. The well-known street is shut down and a carnival is erected, there are live performances, shops are open late (and donating a portion of sales to BAM) and plenty of food and drinks from local restaurants. The night concludes with a visit from Santa, the lighting of the El Paseo Christmas tree, and “snow” in the desert. Miracle on El Paseo takes place on Saturday, November 18th and is a favorite year after a year. Tickets are required.

???????? Take in a Parade

For the last 25 years, Palm Springs has welcomed the Holiday season with it’s annual Festival of Lights Parade on Palm Canyon. The parade features bands, floats, giant balloons, a celebrity Grand Marshal (this year is Palm Springs resident and E! Personality, Ross Matthews), and of course, Santa Claus! The parade takes place on Saturday, December 2nd beginning at 5:45 pm.

???? See a Tree Lighting at 8500 feet

There is no better Holiday feeling than bundling up, drinking a Hot Toddy, and listening to Christmas carols. If this sounds like your version of Yuletide Cheer head up the Palm Springs Aerial Tram to enjoy their annual Tree Lighting with music from the Palm Springs High School Madrigals and Shari Belafonte. Tram tickets are required to and they go quickly for the lighting! Sunday, December 3rd at 5:30 pm.

Ice Skate in the Desert

Grab your skates (or rent a pair) and head to The River in Rancho Mirage for some Holiday skating at the outdoor Renova Ice Rink. For the second year, the rink will welcome skaters all season long over The River’s water feature. The rink is open to the public beginning November 17 – January 15th and is $15 per person including skate rental.
